Our Wonderfull Road Trip to MO Day Six

Day 6: Wednesday March 19,2009

If you would like to read from day one please scroll down and read up.

We woke up this morning and had breakfast at the hotel then walked over a bit to check out Union Station.

It was early and everything inside was still closed. We made a smashed penny and then walked back to our hotel to check out.
We headed back to the arch

for our ride to the top

and spent some time looking out. Silas loved to look out. I know these people are not really us but remember the camera had died at this point and so I just googled images.

After we rode back down I stopped off at the gift shop one more time to buy a book I had seen the day before.
A couple of people had told us we must visit the City Museum before we left town so we headed over to spend about an hour before we headed to Meramac Caverns.

It looked pretty fun from the outside so we paid up the parking meter for two hours and headed inside. It seemed pretty pricey to get in but we went anyway and then had a bathroom break before we went all the way in. Once we went inside we realized this was an all day kind of a place. It was a huge old building downtown that was basically a giant playground. I kept thinking "Museum?" There was a section that was museum like but I never saw it. This place was big. Tiny crawl spaces, steep slides, snack bars, circus performances, arts and crafts,aquarium...I didn't even get to see all of it but this was a fun place!
The girls spent a lot of time in the aquarium. Where we got to pet stingrays, turtles, sharks, and doctor fish. Doctor fish are small like little goldfish and they swim really fast, I was wondering how in the world we were going to be able to pet them the a little girl told us to just stick our hands in. When you did this they came up and starting sucking on your fingers. What they are doing was eating away our dead skin. Kind of gross but it tickled. We hated to leave this place but even the girls were begging us to go. Sad. This is definitely going on our 'places we must go back to again' list.

We drove on to ------ and drove around ----State Park(I've waited so long to write this post I've forgotten the name of the town and park...) for awhile but it was too cold to play much. We ate at Steak and Shake. Then we found a hotel. Shiloh took the girls swimming while Silas and I showered and got ready for bed. We all got to bed a little late but packed up everything so it would be ready to go early in the morning.

Our Wonderfull Road Trip to MO Day Five

Day Five: Wednesday March 18, 2009

If you would like to read from day one please scroll down and read up.

This morning we again woke up to the smell of cigarette smoke and slowly got ready hoping the man with the general store tour would call saying he would take us through. He did! We drove on out to the spot and saw an amazing 1790's trading post.

This was were Indians would come and trade their furs for almost anything they wanted. The man showing us all the awesome things, had dug up many items that were once used here. I won't bore you with all the details but its called the Charrette if you care to research it for yourself. Defiantly worth the side trip.
We had a small picnic on the ground outside here and then made our way to St.Louis.

Driving directly to the arch we went inside expecting a ride to the top only to find out they were sold out. Sold out of rides? Deciding to ask about advance tickets the following day I was able to purchase them and schedule an early accent. Not wasting our time on this day we looked around the museum here and the gift shops where we found a frozen Charlotte doll like the one found on the Arabia, and she was less than half the price here than at the Arabia's gift shop. Score!

We wanted to take a ride on a steamboat down the river but were disheartened when we realized that it was just a regular diesel boat with fake paddle wheels. We skipped that and opted to play at Turtle playground in Forest Park instead.

This was fun. The girls could actually fit inside this turtles mouth. We took our picture here with film. If you come to my house I will show it to you. :) The temperature dropped while we were here and so we drove around to a restaurant that was also in the park called The Boathouse.

It was right on the lake and had ducks to feed. It seemed we would be feasting here. The girls made sure to save every pizza bone and crouton for the ducks. While we fed them Shiloh asked our waiter for a nice part of town to stay in and we happened upon a nice hotel called the Drury Hotel that had renovated an old YMCA building.

It had a pool and breakfast, the character of the building was a bonus. A good swim and off to bed we go.

A Question for Experienced Bloggers Like Yourselves

I have a question. If I save a post as a draft and later post it for real how do I get it to go to the top of all my posts? Do I just have to copy and paste it into a completly new post?

Weekly Remnants

Monday May 4, 2009

Monday was Karate as usual. Silas is a terror when I take him to watch Cecily's 45 minute class. Usually I leave him napping at the shop while the girls and I go but it didn't work out that way today. Because he can't sit still and because the concrete still had wet puddles from being freshly mopped he slipped and busted his head on the floor. There was no bleeding not even a bump just tears. I guess I will have to dig out the small stroller to take when he must go with us.

Tuesday May 5, 2009

Today we went to story time Tuesday because it was free the butterflies day. We have watched them grow as we do every year from a caterpillar. About 40 other little ones had the same idea. Even with so many little hands the girls each got to carry around a butterfly because not everyone wanted to touch those things. I was surprised about this.
We had made plans to go to Chick-fil-a with our new story time friend who has three children the same ages as mine. Well, she has one still incubating so five extra points for her! I'm OK with that. We arrived at Chick-fil-a about ten minutes after 11:00 and we visited for about an hour and a half. Our story time friend left. The girls spotted some gymnastic friends and played with them for a few minutes. I was going to change Silas' diaper and then leave but on the way to the bathroom I ran into our church friends. We visited with them while they ate and killed time before a b-day party they were going to attend. By the time we left it was a little after 3:00! Chick-fil-a for FOUR hours?
At one point we looked into the play area and Cecily had all the kids sitting down and she was assigning parts because they were playing Prince Caspian.

Laundry Tuesday was not lost because when we got home Silas napped and I worked on the couple of loads that there were.

Wednesday May 6, 2009

Today was karate as usual. Our friend John came to Cecily's class with us to watch.

I made brownies today for some company we are having tonight.

Abbie and Blake, Missy and John and Ross came over for dinner and then we all played Mafia. Let me just say I totally get that game. It was fun.

When everyone left and Blake and Shiloh had gone to bed Abbie and I stayed up talking. We went to bed early. Five in the morning early. Yikes!

Thursday May 7, 2009

After little sleep Abbie and I loaded up the kids into the van and ran errands. This basically consists of me driving place to place and Abbie and the kids wait in the van while I run in. I think I need to invest in a full time errand runner. It was so quick to get everything done and I don't have to count how many time I buckled and unbuckled car seat snaps so I can pass that info on to you so that I can convey how much time it takes. Thanks Abbie!

I bought a curling iron to combat my RBHC*. I'm also tired of super straight locks.

We went to gymnastics where Abbie took photos of Silas and the girls. Thanks Abbie!

We all went to Granny's house for dinner. On the way to Granny's I offered Abbie a drink and after pulling into McDonalds I realize I left my credit card and licence in my other pocket. Abbie buys me a drink instead. Thanks Abbie! This is her first iced coffee from McDonald's and while we wait for our drinks I tell her it is an amazing experience. When we get our drinks they look a little less milky than usual but I think they will taste OK. They do not. Abbie bought us really bad coffee. Thanks Abbie!

Friday May 8, 2009

Abbie stayed with the children while I went to karate today. It was nice not having to take them to the shop and pick them up after. Thanks Abbie!

Abbie kept the girls entertained while I got ready by taking pictures of them. She also took photos of Silas in his little tux. Thanks Abbie!

Abbie took pictures of me today. Gee thanks Abbie.

We met the guys for some Chipolte and then I introduced Abbie to TJMaxx. Your Welcome Abbie. I love that store.

Saturday May 9, 2009

I went shopping with our friends Missy and John today. We chose a dress for Missy and John the most super awsomest jeans in the whole wide world.

I came home and received my Mothers Day gift. I am now a pet owner.

I went out with Kandice to see a play and we laughed our heads off. There may have been tears. I am in love with Shakespeare. Afterward we went to three places to get the perfect coffee. McDonalds it was. Then we came back here and watched a movie with Missy and John.

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not leave the house with mom hair because I am tired of fighting my RBHC* and not even care what anyone might think. Never.

I did not forget that my three year old is not mature enough to make excellent food choices when there is a table full of brownies and other yummy goodies. I'm sure I would've seen she was eating brownie after brownie and stop her. I did not find out hours later from my almost sister-in-law that this is why she was acting so wild. No I always smother my children with intense supervision.
